AITP Austin Awarded Top AITP Professional Chapter in the Nation!!!
At the recent 2012 AITP National Annual Meeting of the Members in Green Bay, AITP Austin was presented the William F. Howell Cup as the winner of the Association Outstanding Chapter Award (AOCA) for 2011. Association President, Norbert J. Kubilus, presented the Howell Cup to 2011 Chapter President Eric Hungate in front of over 100 members from around the country. Eric expressed his thanks to the Association "for the recognition and this outstanding award. AITP Austin is so very proud."

"On behalf of all those involved with AITP Austin, I cannot express how much we appreciate this extraordinary honor, and I greatly thank all of those involved in selecting AITP Austin," said Doug Fogle, 2012 Austin Chapter President. "It is especially meaningful to be the first chapter to receive the award of the William F. Howell Cup. It was our intention to incorporate all of the missions and the values of AITP into our efforts to steer the Austin chapter, and we are thrilled to have watched the chapter grow and to have been chosen for this award."
AITP National has a long tradition of recognizing the outstanding achievements of its chapters and their dedicated leaders. There were 19 Chapter Outstanding Performance Award (COPA) recipients for 2011 and eight Region Outstanding Chapter Award (ROCA) winners, including Austin. See this AITP newletter Information Executive article: http://www.aitp.org/news/89307/.
Austin is the first chapter to receive the William F. Howell Cup, named for the first and only individual to achieve 60 years of continuous membership in the Association. Previously known as the President's Cup, each AOCA winner has a plaque on the base giving the chapter name and year awarded.
This is the second year that AITP asked an external review panel to make the final AOCA selection. Thanks to Association Executive Vice President (and 2012 ICCP President) Bill Fly, the AOCA Selection Panel for 2011 consisted of ICCP Board members. They reviewed the COPA applications for each of the 2011 ROCA winners. Based on these applications and recommendations submitted by the Region Presidents, the panel selected Austin as the 2011 Association Outstanding Chapter.
